Canyon Ranch Austin Opens in the Hill Country With Texas' Largest Spa
The Fort Worth-based wellness brand debuted a 600-acre Lake Travis resort in Spicewood on Oct. 29.
Canyon Ranch Austin opened Oct. 29 in Spicewood, bringing a 600-acre, 141-room wellness resort to the Texas Hill Country about an hour from downtown Austin.
The property, at 600 Moonlight Bend overlooking Lake Travis, is the fifth for Canyon Ranch, which was founded in Tucson in 1979 and is headquartered in Fort Worth. It was designed by Lake Flato with interiors by Waldrop + Nichols Studio. Reservations had opened in June for stays beginning in mid-October.
What's on site
The centerpiece is a 40,000-square-foot spa that the company bills as the state's largest, with 40 treatment rooms, two pools, cold plunges, whirlpools, steam rooms and a cedar sauna. The Barn is a 27,000-square-foot fitness facility, and The Wellspring is a 12,000-square-foot medical center. More than 30 daily activities, five miles of trails, a private lake beach, watersports and pickleball, tennis and padel courts round out the program.
Dining includes the signature restaurant Estella, led by Texas-born chef Val Cantú of San Francisco's Michelin-recognized Californios, plus Flying X Café, the Mini Bar at the Rendezvous lounge and Oak Valley for outdoor events.
Rates and homes
Stays start at $1,325 per person per night, all-inclusive. A residential Ranch Home Collection offers 134 single-family homes starting around $3.8 million. CEO Mark Rivers called the resort the brand's "bold vision for the future."
